Frequently Asked Questions
-
The best reference photos are clear, well lit, and show your pet’s features, coloring, and expression as naturally as possible. Try to choose images that are in focus, taken in natural light, and large enough to show detail without blur. Close up photos at your pet’s eye level usually work best, especially when the face, eyes, and fur markings are easy to see. If you have a favorite expression or pose, feel free to send a few options so I can choose the best one to work from.

Each portrait is created by hand, so completion time can vary depending on the size of the piece, any custom add-ons, and my current order schedule. Portraits are completed in the order they are received, and the usual turnaround time for the basic package is about 4–6 weeks.
Estimated timing may look like this:
Basic package: 4–6 weeks
Larger portraits: additional time depending on size and detail
Abstract background: about 1 extra week
Custom framing: about 1–3 extra weeks
Please note that these are estimated timeframes and may vary. I will remain in contact with you throughout the entire process and will keep you updated along the way so your portrait experience feels clear, personal, and well guided.

Once your deposit is received and your reference photos have been submitted, I begin your portrait. I also include one consultation by email so we can make sure your vision, details, and preferences are clear before moving forward.
-
A 50% deposit is required to begin your portrait. Your project start time depends on receipt of your photos through the email you provide on the order form.
-
A preview proof will be sent to your email within the turnaround time listed at the time of purchase. This is your chance to review the piece before final approval. Please see FAQ on change request fees.
-
If you would like changes after receiving your proof, a standard $45 change fee will apply. This covers the additional time and supplies used to make revisions. I reserve the right to charge more for larger or more complex changes to cover materials cost.
-
Once the proof is approved, the remaining 50% balance is due before the finished portrait is released for pickup, delivery, or shipping.

Buying local means supporting real artists and small businesses in your community. It helps keep creativity, craftsmanship, and personal connection alive in a way that large retailers simply cannot offer.
-
When you support a small business, you are supporting the person behind the work directly. Your purchase helps sustain independent artists, encourages thoughtful handmade work, and allows you to own something far more personal than a mass produced product.
